Studio City, CA (PRWEB) December 23, 2011

Talk Like a Pirate Days own Mark Summers (Capn Slappy) and Clay Clement (Tal) from Studio City Tattoo publicly launched their new childrens picture book, Pirate Santa in Studio City, CA on Sunday December 18, 2011. The authors and crew of Pirate Santa, in connection with the celebrated bookstore Storyopolis, supported the Turning Pages Foundation with a book drive that morning at the Studio City Farmers Market. Storyopolis in Encino came on board just last week and is now selling Pirate Santa exclusively in Southern California. The delightful pirate themed holiday program featuring musical entertainment, a sword fighting and gift giveaway was the surprise hit of the Studio City Farmers Market that morning.

Volunteers dressed in fun pirate garb to lead kids in several craft activities. Childrens performers highlighted by sword fighters / childrens entertainers Paul Jacobson and Michael Triplett from Best. Party. Ever. (Nickelodeons Parents Pick 2010 & LA Parents Best of 2011) alongside the musical "Mister Mac and the Mermaids" and Adam the Juggler showed kids and adults a rollicking good time. Pirate Santa came to town with majestic throne flanked by two tridents custom built by Rene Gleason of Roses and Daggers Productions. And two amazing miniature pirate ships created by Claridge Woodworks decorated and enhanced the festivities. Fans and families were treated to free pirate rubber duckies, free pirate bandanas courtesy of Sea Wolf Clothing and free Pirate Santa photos courtesy of Lycan Productions. A subsequent book signing at Storyopolis later that afternoon confirmed that the book, as well as an amazing cast of real life pirates, is already hard at work winning the hearts of kids, moms and dads across the country.

This holiday season Pirate Santa authors Clay Clement and Mark Summers chose to support the Turning Pages Foundation to honor kids and teachers. The Turning Pages Foundation is a non-profit organization established in North Hollywood, California in 2010 by Gail Craven who is a local teacher. Turning Pages bridges the resources within the community and local schools to develop and support academic, enrichment, and leadership programs. All Turning Pages Foundation projects are conceived by and instituted by youth leaders. Programs include peer tutoring; composting and gardening; selling sprouted seeds at the Farmers Market; volunteering at local homeless shelters, food banks, and urban farms; fifth grade community council; summer leadership; writers coop; and the art room at Lankershim Elementary. The connection was encouraged by the Studio City Chamber of Commerce and exceeded all expectations by bringing the community together to celebrate the holidays by supporting education and philanthropy.

Meanwhile, Pirate Santa is steadily acquiring celebrity fans through Clements award-winning Studio City Tattoo. Real life tattoo artists from the shop were cast as tattoo designers for the remake of LAND OF THE LOST starring Will Ferrell. Studio City Tattoo is known for clients highlighted by Miley Cyrus, Will I am (Black Eyed Peas), Kirstie Alley (Dancing with the Stars), Cher, Tommy Lee, Slash and Lenny Kravitz to name a few. Niecy Nash from Reno 911 purchased a book this week as a gift. Celebrity couple Josh Kelly and his wife Katherine Heigl from NEW YEARS EVE are also expecting copy of Pirate Santa for their daughter Naleigh. Josh Hutcherson from THE HUNGER GAMES and POLAR EXPRESS was also in the shop recently to share in the holiday good cheer. Capn Slappy has recorded the IPAD version of the book in studio for the production of an interactive version of Pirate Santa which will be directed by Michele Clement. The team will return to Los Angeles, CA at the Los Angeles Festival of Books in Spring 2012.
